Overview: Club de Golf La Peñaza is an 18-hole private course in Zaragoza, set like a green oasis within the dry Ebro valley. F.W. Hawtree routed the holes through natural depressions with limited earth movement, and the regional cierzo wind makes trajectory control important.
History: The club was inaugurated in April 1973 after its founders formed Construcciones y Deportes in 1969 and assembled an 84-hectare property. The federation credits F.W. Hawtree with the design. In 2017 the club received the title Real.
Did You Know? The cierzo can make the same holes feel like different tests on separate days. The club describes the contrast between playing with and without the regional wind as the equivalent of playing two courses.
