Overview: Near Madrid, Club de Golf La Dehesa occupies a two-part 18-hole layout in Villanueva de la Cañada. Manuel Piñero divided the routing into two contrasting halves. The opening nine works beside the Rio Aulencia through more demanding ground and mature encinas, olives, pines and poplars, while the closing nine opens out into flatter fairways with lakes and hazards shaping the decisions. That change of scale keeps the round varied without making the course feel disjointed. The first half rewards precision and patience, while the second offers more room but still asks the player to plan the position of the next shot before taking on the green.
History: La Dehesa was inaugurated in 1992 and was designed by Manuel Piñero. The club grew into an established sporting and social institution in Madrid's northwest, with the original course remaining its central feature. Official federation material records the course as an 18-hole par-72 layout, and the club's own history emphasizes the balance between competitive play and the surrounding ecosystem. Over more than three decades, the tree planting and mature landscape have strengthened the contrast between the technical first nine and the wider second nine.
Did You Know? The Rio Aulencia is not just a nearby landmark. It is the defining reference for the first nine, where the river corridor, tougher terrain and mature trees create a more technical opening loop. The second nine then changes the mood with broader fairways and flatter ground, giving La Dehesa one of the clearest two-part rhythms among Madrid's parkland courses.
