Overview: Nestled in the verdant, rolling hills of Siero between Oviedo and Gijón, Real Club de Golf La Barganiza is a quintessential Asturian parkland course. Originally conceived as a nine-hole layout by Víctor García de la Cruz and later expanded into a complete 18-hole par-70 experience by Javier Núñez Martínez, the course is a celebration of the traditional Cantabrian landscape. The routing is technical and rhythmic, navigating undulating terrain where narrow fairways are lined with diverse Mediterranean and Atlantic flora. Players must exercise strategic restraint as they encounter significant elevation changes and well-protected greens, all while enjoying panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountain peaks and the lush Asturian countryside.
Did You Know? The course is particularly famous for its mature vegetation, with several holes defined by majestic chestnut and oak trees that frame the routing and provide a natural, seasonal backdrop. The 12th hole is a local favorite, where the green is completely encircled by a historic grove of chestnut trees, creating a secluded "botanical theater" that perfectly encapsulates the quiet, pastoral elegance of Northern Spanish golf.
