Overview: Club de Golf El Bosque is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. parkland course in Chiva, west of Valencia. Its 18-hole routing moves through a broad Mediterranean valley with mature pines, changing ground and the kind of strategic bunkering associated with Jones's work. The setting is greener and more wooded than a coastal resort course, but the design still creates plenty of visual variety. Drives need to find the right part of the fairway before approach shots are played into shaped greens, and the surrounding hills make the course feel pleasantly secluded. El Bosque combines a serious championship test with a landscape that rewards a steady, observant walk rather than a single-minded search for distance.
History: The club was founded in 1975 and quickly became an important tournament venue in the Valencia region. The El Bosque Open in 1990 was won by Vijay Singh, while the same period also brought the Benson and Hedges Trophy and the Open Mediterránea. A substantial renovation programme ran from 2019 to 2021, followed by severe damage from the 2024 DANA storm. The course reopened in August 2025 after recovery work, keeping the original identity while restoring the playing surfaces and infrastructure.
Did You Know? El Bosque's tournament history includes the 1990 El Bosque Open, where Vijay Singh took the title. The club's later recovery after the 2024 DANA storm is also part of the course story, because the 2025 reopening marked a new chapter for a layout that has been part of Valencian golf since the 1970s.
