Overview: Established in 1962, Club de Golf Costa Brava is a cornerstone of Mediterranean golf heritage, set within the lush landscape of Santa Cristina d''Aro. The original 18-hole championship layout was designed by Hamilton Stutt—a founding figure of the British Association of Golf Course Architects—who artfully utilized the region’s rolling topography. The course presents a technical front nine that meanders through dense forests of pine and cork oak, demanding precise iron play, before opening into a flatter, more expansive back nine that stretches toward the Vall d’'Aro. Now a 27-hole facility following a 2011 expansion by Jorge Soler Peix and Eugenio Aguado, the club continues to offer a classic, parkland challenge defined by its mature vegetation and undulating greens.
Did You Know? The club’s social heart is its magnificent clubhouse, a meticulously restored Catalan masia (farmhouse) dating back to 1841. During the region’s glamorous social boom of the late 1960s, the course became a favorite retreat for Hollywood icons like Sean Connery, who was drawn to its unique blend of secluded forest routing and traditional Mediterranean hospitality.
