Overview: Located in Aartselaar, just south of Antwerp, Belgium, Cleydael Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course designed by Paul Rolin. The layout is set across a flat, heavily wooded estate featuring narrow, tree-lined fairways, strategic water hazards, and small, well-defended green complexes. The course demands pinpoint accuracy off the tee to navigate the mature oak and beech corridors, and disciplined iron play to avoid the numerous crossing streams.
History: Opened in 1980, the course was built to create an elite private country club in the Antwerp region. Rolin carefully integrated the routing into the historic estate's ancient woodlands, preserving the natural drainage canals and historic moats. The course has maintained its classic, traditional character and continues to serve as a prominent venue for Belgian amateur competitions.
Did You Know? The club is set on the grounds of the spectacular 14th-century Cleydael Castle. This elegant, moated fortress served as a historic defensive bastion and now provides a majestic, medieval backdrop to the opening holes and the club's dining terrace.
