Overview: Clearwater Bay B is the second 18-hole routing at the Clearwater Bay resort in Lingshui. Schmidt-Curley designed the 7,035-yard, par-72 course as a playable coastal layout with generous fairway width, grass-faced bunkers, sandy waste areas and more penal pot bunkers. Water comes into play on nine holes, so the course is forgiving in its corridors but demanding when an approach is left without a clear angle.
History: The B Course opened in 2011, following Clearwater Bay's first routing. The two routings established the club as a 36-hole destination on Hainan's southeast coast. Schmidt-Curley described the B layout as a design that could welcome players of different abilities, while still creating a distinctive look through its bunker forms and relationship with the coastal setting.
Did You Know? The fifteenth is a revealing hole. Its 337-yard par four has a generous landing area, but the green sits roughly three metres above the fairway and is protected by deep bunkers and grass hollows. Clearwater Bay B can make the second shot decisive even after a good tee ball.
