Overview: City Golf Basel Bachgraben is a compact public pitch-and-putt facility on the grounds and surrounding sports area of Gartenbad Bachgraben in Allschwil, just outside Basel. The full base arrangement has 15 par-three holes: nine inside the seasonal swimming-pool grounds and six outdoor holes available throughout the year. The official 15-hole description lists distances from 42 to 181 metres and a base total of 1,373 metres, approximately 1,502 yards. It is urban golf built around short-game variety, with the longest hole adding a different scale to the otherwise compact card.
History: City Golf's defining history is its seasonal dual use of the Bachgraben site. During the summer it functions as a public swimming facility; from October through the end of April, the pool grounds become the nine-hole part of the golf layout while six additional holes remain outside the pool area. A Basel-Stadt government notice records that 15 holes were available at Bachgraben from 17 September 2005. The public record still does not identify a named architect for the exact facility, so architect remains unreported.
Did You Know? The 15-hole label conceals three optional alternatives on the official card. Holes 3, 4 and 9 each have an additional tee position, so the same small layout can present different angles and distances without adding a separate full hole. The individual par-three distances range from 42 to 181 metres, giving the card a wider spread than its pitch-and-putt description might suggest.
