Overview: Citrusdal Golf Club is the local course on Oewer Street in Citrusdal, between the town and the river with the Cederberg valley beyond. The club's own history describes a nine-hole course on the old Koeikamp ground. A current course record also publishes an 18-hole combination played twice around the same nine, listed at par 70 and 4,826 yards; that is the basis for the directory's 18-hole information here. The layout is modest parkland golf shaped by river-edge ground, open views and the dry Western Cape climate.
History: In 1960, fifteen local men began clearing the Koeikamp and created a rough four-hole course. That first effort faded, but a new group returned to the same ground in 1975 and built the nine-hole course that established the present club. In the early 1980s the committee obtained the opportunity to buy the Koeikamp land, giving Citrusdal a permanent home. The club has also hosted the Citrusdal Open since 1986, a long-running local tournament tradition.
Did You Know? “Koeikamp” was not a golfing name originally: the club history explains that the common ground was a place where residents were entitled to keep two cows. The course therefore grew from a genuinely local land-use story, with volunteers transforming uneven ground between the town and the river into a small golf facility. Its tournament calendar and long ownership history add context beyond the simple nine-hole label.
