Overview: Located in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, the Bonora Course at Circolo Golf Bogogno is an 18-hole parkland course designed by American architect Robert von Hagge. In contrast to the flatter sister layout, the Bonora Course is routed across undulating terrain featuring significant elevation shifts, crossing streams, and dense oak and chestnut forests. The layout represents a highly strategic test, requiring precise ball placement to navigate the narrow, tree-lined fairways and small, well-defended green complexes.
History: Opened in 2000 as the second 18-hole championship course at the resort, the Bonora Course was built to establish Bogogno as a premier European tournament destination. Von Hagge, Smelek and Baril utilized the natural hilly landscape to craft a layout that demands tactical discipline. The course has hosted multiple professional events, including the Italian Open on the European Tour and the European Tour Qualifying School.
Did You Know? The course is set within an ecologically protected nature reserve where grey herons, red squirrels, and rare bird species thrive. On clear days, players are treated to spectacular, unobstructed views of the massive, snow-capped peaks of Monte Rosa in the Alps, which provides a majestic mountain backdrop.
