Overview: Located near Lecce in the Apulia region of southern Italy, Acaya Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course designed by the American firm of Hurdzan & Fry. Winding through historic olive groves, dense Mediterranean macchia, and spectacular water features, the layout offers a highly strategic test. The course features wide fairways, sprawling sandy waste areas, and large, undulating green complexes that demand creative shot-making and precise approach play.
History: Originally opened in 1996, the course underwent a complete, multi-million euro redesign by Hurdzan & Fry in 2007 to elevate it to modern international championship standards. The architects sculpted the flat terrain to introduce dramatic lakes and strategic contouring. The course has hosted multiple professional events, including tournaments on the European Challenge Tour.
Did You Know? The course is built immediately adjacent to the spectacular Le Cesine WWF nature reserve. This protected wetland sanctuary is a crucial stopover for rare migratory birds, and players can frequently spot flamingos and wild tortoises near the fairways.
