Overview: CIAL Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course at Nedumbassery, beside Cochin International Airport in Kerala. Its official scorecard lists 7,430 yards from the black tees, with shorter blue, white, yellow and red options. The course is built around a risk-and-reward design idea, with rolling fairways, five large lakes and an island green at the 18th hole. That combination gives the facility a broad appeal: it can serve a full golf day, a regional golf trip or a convenient round connected to a visit to Kochi.
History: CIAL developed the golf and country club as a two-phase project on roughly 130 acres. A shorter initial phase preceded completion of the full 18-hole layout, which also added the driving range and academy. CIAL's current information identifies the 18-hole course as the first of its kind in Kerala, and the full configuration is treated here as opening in 2014. A 2015 interview with Major General K. J. Koshy describes how he was asked to draw up the design and how the team developed the course with a strong emphasis on practical construction and locally available materials.
Did You Know? CIAL calls the 18th-hole island green General's Creek. The five lakes are also part of the site's environmental system: the official course description says they collect monsoon storm water, support irrigation and help recharge the water table in the surrounding area.
