Overview: Umesato is the 18-hole course at Chiba Country Club in Noda, a tree-lined par-72 layout measuring 7,083 yards. Kokichi Yasuda created the original design and Taizo Kawata later handled a redesign. The course's mature woodland setting gives it a calm visual character, but its championship length and shaped greens create a more serious test than the quiet surroundings suggest. It is a private course, available to guests only through the club's membership arrangements rather than ordinary public booking.
History: Umesato opened in 1960 as the third Chiba Country Club course. The official club describes continuing upgrades and a record of high-level tournaments, while current course references distinguish Umesato from the older Noda and 27-hole Kawama routings. Its later redesign by Kawata is part of the course's modern identity, so the original opening date and the subsequent work should not be collapsed into one construction event.
Did You Know? Umesato has hosted the Japan Open and Panasonic Open, among other major events. The course is also unusual in a practical way: Chiba Country Club manages three separate layouts in the same broad institution, meaning a search for the club name alone can easily mix Umesato facts with Noda or Kawama information. This profile keeps the 18-hole Umesato routing separate.
