Overview: Cherry Valley Club is a private Garden City course on Long Island, with an early twentieth-century routing associated with Devereux Emmet and later Walter Travis work. Tree-lined holes, traditional bunkers and shaped greens reward players who plan the approach rather than simply attack the fairway.
History: The club was established in 1916 on about 145 acres and became part of Garden City's dense historic golf corridor. Its course hosted the 1927 U.S. Women's Amateur, an event that placed the club on the national championship calendar during the classic era.
Did You Know? Cherry Valley's 1927 championship was won on a course located only a short distance from several other influential Long Island clubs. The local concentration of historic layouts is a defining feature of the Garden City golf landscape.
