Overview: The Founders Course at Chenal Country Club is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design in west Little Rock, where rolling ground, mature woods and carefully shaped fairways give the private layout a composed parkland character. The current profile lists 7,115 yards and par 72. Zoysia fairways, Tif Eagle greens, strategic bunkering and natural water features create a course that rewards both precise approaches and sensible decisions off the tee. The routing has the polish of a modern championship course while remaining closely tied to the wooded Arkansas landscape.
History: Chenal Country Club and the Founders Course opened in 1990 as part of the development of Chenal Valley. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed both of the club's 18-hole courses, with Founders serving as the original course and Bear Den arriving later. The club has continued to invest in the property while preserving the two-course identity. Its official history also records an important environmental milestone: Chenal became the first private facility in Arkansas to receive Audubon Sanctuary recognition.
Did You Know? Chenal's two courses are deliberately different. The club describes Founders as the more open course, with wide Zoysia fairways, while Bear Den uses tighter, more tree-lined corridors. That contrast gives the original Founders routing its own place within the wider Chenal golf experience.
