Overview: Chena Bend is an 18-hole military course on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, routed through birch forest near the Chena River. The woodland setting, open stretches of fairway and long summer light give the course a character that is specific to Interior Alaska.
History: The Alaska Golf Association records Chena Bend as opening in 1962, alongside North Star Golf Club in Fairbanks. The course remains part of the long military and civilian golf history of the Interior, where the short playing season has always shaped the game.
Did You Know? The Alaska Golf Association lists Chena Bend at 7,012 yards and par 72, making it the longest course in its Fairbanks directory. Its location beside the Chena River places the routing within one of the area's defining natural corridors.
