Overview: Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao places an 18-hole course at the foot of the Soi Dao mountains in Pong Nam Ron, Chanthaburi. The operator's factsheet gives a par of 72 and 7,143 yards from the black tees, with shorter tee sets for a wider range of players. Denis Griffiths designed the original course across 395 acres of tropical mountainside, where elevation change, lakes, bunkers and broad green surrounds create the main challenge. The course is presented as a resort round, but the terrain gives it more movement and variety than a flat coastal layout. A practice area and the adjoining resort make it suited to a destination stay.
History: The course opened in 1996 and later received a renovation in 2015 by Pirapon Namatra of Golf East, a distinction the operator makes between original design and later work. That timeline matters because the present course is both a Griffiths layout and a maintained resort property rather than a newly built course. Chatrium's current pages continue to identify the 18-hole routing and the surrounding Soi Dao landscape as the centre of the resort's golf offering.
Did You Know? The 14th is the course's signature par three in the operator's description. It combines water and bunkering with the mountain setting, giving a single short hole the ability to show the course's broader character: visual drama, elevation and a demand for a committed shot to the correct part of the green.
