Overview: Charles River Country Club is a Newton Centre course by Donald Ross, set on rolling ground above the Charles River. The routing combines tree-lined fairways, deep bunkering, and Ross greens with several holes that use the rugged terrain to create unusual angles and changes of direction.
History: Charles River was established and opened for play in 1921 as a Donald Ross design. Later restoration planning led by Ron Pritchard focused on removing selected trees, reshaping bunkers, and returning the River greens toward their intended proportions.
Did You Know? The club’s centennial history included co-hosting the 2021 Francis Ouimet Memorial Tournament with Woodland Golf Club.
