Overview: Centennial Golf Club’s Fairways/Meadows routing pairs two of the three nines at the Carmel facility. The combination plays to par 72 and measures 7,050 yards from the longest published tees, made up of 3,534 yards on Fairways and 3,516 on Meadows. Larry Nelson’s design uses rolling ground, ponds, natural rock outcroppings and broad views to create a substantial Hudson Valley round. The pairing offers a strong mix of open driving space, shaped approaches and the changing angles that come from moving between the two nines.
History: The 27-hole Centennial property opened in 1998 under the design direction of Larry Nelson. Its three par-36 nines were conceived to be played in different combinations, so Fairways/Meadows is one of several legitimate 18-hole routings within the same club. The design’s flexibility has remained a defining feature, supported by multiple tee positions and a large practice complex. Centennial’s history is therefore as much about adaptable routing as it is about the individual holes.
Did You Know? The Meadows nine is the shortest of Centennial’s three nines from the longest listed tee set, but adding it to Fairways still produces a course of more than 7,000 yards. That is a useful reminder that a nine’s character cannot be judged by length alone.
