Overview: Centennial Golf Club’s Fairways/Lakes routing combines two of the three nines at the Carmel property. The 18-hole par-72 combination measures 7,133 yards from the longest published tee positions, with the Fairways nine contributing 3,534 yards and Lakes contributing 3,599. Larry Nelson designed the 27-hole facility across rolling hills with ponds, exposed rock and long views. This combination moves between open strategic ground and water-shaped holes, giving the round a different emphasis from Centennial’s other pairings.
History: Centennial opened in 1998 as a 27-hole daily-fee facility designed by Larry Nelson, the U.S. Open and two-time PGA Championship winner. The three nines were built to be combined in different ways, so Fairways/Lakes is a precise routing rather than a separate standalone course. That flexibility is central to Centennial’s history and operation: the same property can offer several distinct 18-hole experiences while retaining a consistent architectural language across the nines.
Did You Know? Each Centennial nine is par 36. That simple structure means every 18-hole combination stays at par 72, while the total yardage and the balance of water, rock and elevation change shift with the selected pair.
