Overview: The Twenty Ten Course is an 18-hole resort course in the Usk Valley at Celtic Manor, created specifically for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Its opening holes have a links-like feel, with long rough and greenside swales, before the routing reaches a lake-lined middle section. Water comes into play on half the holes, and the combination of generous views, exposed approaches and risk-reward options makes the course a demanding match-play setting.
History: The course was built in two stages and opened in 2007. Nine new holes were constructed alongside nine existing holes that were substantially remodelled, under the direction of Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Ross McMurray. It was the first course purpose-built for the Ryder Cup, with the design and surrounding infrastructure developed to host the 2010 matches.
Did You Know? The 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor became the first edition in the event's history to finish on a Monday. Heavy rain interrupted the opening schedule, adding an unusual final chapter to the course's first major international staging.
