Overview: Cedar Ridge Country Club is a private Joe Finger design in Broken Arrow, east of Tulsa. The course occupies rolling Oklahoma ground and combines mature trees, strategic fairway lines, large green targets and a substantial bunker network. At 7,392 yards and par 71 from the back markers, it has the length for championship golf, but its main demand is shot variety: Finger designed the layout to ask for different trajectories and precise execution rather than a single repeated style of play.
History: In 1967, a group of Tulsa businessmen led by J. A. Buddy LaFortune commissioned Joe Finger to create a new course on a former dairy-farm property. Cedar Ridge opened in 1969 and quickly gained national attention, with Golf Digest placing it among the top hundred courses. The club's history records Finger's own high opinion of the design and its strategic use of the natural land. The course has remained a private Tulsa-area championship venue ever since.
Did You Know? Cedar Ridge has 87 sand traps, a figure recorded in the club's own history. Finger said the course ranked at the top of his work, making the bunker count more than a statistic: it is part of the architecture's insistence on varied lines and precise approaches.
