Overview: Country Club of Lansing is a private historic course along the Grand River in Lansing, Michigan. William Langford’s layout replaced the club’s early small course with a larger parkland setting designed for a complete country-club experience.
History: Lansing Golf Club began in 1908 with six holes laid out by F.W. Hodges and expanded to nine holes in 1913. Members acquired additional land in 1920, commissioned William Langford to design the new course, and opened the new clubhouse and layout in September of that year.
Did You Know? The club used several names before becoming Country Club of Lansing in 1922. The course’s present identity therefore grew out of a sequence of early Lansing golf clubs rather than one uninterrupted name.
