Overview: The Keir Course at Cawder Golf Club is a beautiful and technical parkland layout that provides a more strategic and subtle companion to the neighboring Championship Course. Designed by five-time Open champion James Braid and opened in 1937, the Keir meanders through the mature policy lands of the historic Cawder Estate. While it is shorter and more walkable than its sibling, the Keir is far from a soft touch; it is defined by its narrow, tree-lined fairways, tricky elevation changes, and small, undulating greens that demand high levels of precision and short-game creativity.
Did You Know? The course is built on land of significant archaeological importance, featuring well-preserved sections of the Antonine Wall, the Roman Empire's most northerly frontier. Golfers at Cawder play out of a spectacular 18th-century mansion house that serves as one of Scotland's most historic clubhouses, providing a unique blend of ancient Roman history and classic 20th-century Braid architecture.
