Overview: Established in 1888, Cathkin Braes Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Glasgow and a premier example of moorland architecture. Situated 650 feet above sea level, the course, redesigned by James Braid in 1921, offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views in Scotland, stretching from the city skyline to the distant Campsie Hills and the Isle of Arran. The layout is characterized by its wide, open moorland fairways, natural broom and heather, and the consistently challenging winds that require a strategic approach to its undulating greens.
Did You Know? The course is located near "Queen Mary's Seat," a historic viewpoint where Mary, Queen of Scots is said to have watched the Battle of Langside in 1568. Despite the name "Braes" (hills), the course is surprisingly walkable, but its architectural difficulty lies in the subtle slopes and the exposed location, which transforms even a slight breeze into a significant defensive element on every hole.
