Overview: Cathedral Lodge Golf Club is a private 18-hole course in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, set among ridges, native vegetation, creeks and the larger forms of the surrounding mountains. Greg Norman's design uses the natural relief to create a par-72 round with changing elevation and a strong sense of separation between holes. The course is not just a sequence of fairways through trees; its open land, creek lines and sharper valley edges create different scales of challenge as the round unfolds.
History: Cathedral Lodge opened in October 2017 as a purpose-built golf destination near Thornton. The project was shaped around the site's natural landscape, with the design retaining native flora and allowing the terrain's ridges and gorges to influence the routing. The course has quickly become associated with high-level private golf in regional Victoria while keeping its setting central to the experience.
Did You Know? The fifth hole is identified by the club as a signature hole, and the course's distinctive tee arrangements include shared starting areas on the fourteenth and eighteenth. Those details reflect a wider design idea at Cathedral Lodge: memorable moments come from how holes sit in the land, not from decorative features added after the routing was complete.
