Overview: Castletown Links is an 18-hole course at Derbyhaven on the Isle of Man's Langness Peninsula, with the Irish Sea visible from across the routing. The links uses a narrow, exposed coastal site where sea, gorse, rough and rolling ground provide much of the character.
History: The club's official history records Old Tom Morris beginning the design in 1891 and Castletown Golf Club being formed in 1892. Alister MacKenzie made significant alterations in 1913, while Philip Mackenzie Ross updated the links after the Second World War. Those successive layers explain the course's blended architectural attribution.
Did You Know? A 1897 advertisement already described Castletown as an 18-hole seaside course with the sea on both sides of the links. The modern course therefore preserves a very early record of the peninsula's golfing identity, even after later architectural changes.
