Overview: Casa Serena is an exclusive inland links course beside the restored Chateau Roztez near Kutná Hora. Robin Hiseman of European Golf Design created a wide, rolling layout with broad fairways, large undulating greens and a substantial bunker scheme. Although it is inland, the open shaping and ground movement give the course a links-like feel, while the quiet setting and carefully maintained surfaces create a very controlled and secluded round.
History: The course was developed alongside the renovation of a 17th-century hunting lodge and opened in 2007 after a seven-year restoration project. From 2008 to 2011, Casa Serena hosted the Casa Serena Open on the European Senior Tour, bringing the course into the international tournament calendar and providing a stage for players such as Bernhard Langer. Its history is therefore closely linked to both the chateau restoration and the early development of modern Czech golf.
Did You Know? Casa Serena’s name belongs to the wider chateau project as well as the golf course, creating a close relationship between the historic lodge, the landscaped grounds and the modern layout. The course is also unusual in Czechia for combining a highly contemporary European Golf Design concept with an estate setting rooted in seventeenth-century architecture.
