Overview: Carter Plantation is an 18-hole public resort course in Springfield, Louisiana, and the first signature design of Louisiana native and PGA champion David Toms. The course moves through live-oak flats, cypress wetlands and upland pine forest, using the area's varied landscapes as its main design material.
History: The historic plantation house on the property dates to the early nineteenth century, while the golf course opened to the public in October 2003. Carter Plantation was Toms's first signature course and remains closely associated with his work in Louisiana.
Did You Know? The historic property was first built between 1817 and 1820 and was later named Carter Plantation after Marcus Carter acquired it in 1858.
