Overview: Carolina Country Club is a private Raleigh course whose identity reaches back to the early twentieth century. The course is presented in a traditional parkland setting, with mature vegetation and a central Raleigh location. Its history should be kept separate from Raleigh Country Club, the later Donald Ross club on Donald Ross Drive.
History: The club was incorporated in 1910 as Raleigh Country Club and adopted the Carolina Country Club name in 1918. Its official history also records a clubhouse fire in 1919. Later course work, including modern architectural updates, belongs to the continuing life of this club rather than to the separate 1948 Raleigh Country Club.
Did You Know? The two Raleigh clubs share an earlier naming history that can cause directory mix-ups. Carolina Country Club began as Raleigh Country Club in 1910, while the current Raleigh Country Club was founded in 1948 and is the one identified with Ross's final design.
