Overview: Cardigan Golf Club occupies elevated ground at Gwbert-on-Sea, with Cardigan Bay and the Teifi estuary shaping the setting. The course is mainly links in character, using natural drainage, coastal humps and hollows, gorse and rough vegetation to create a varied 18-hole walk. Views are present throughout the round, but the undulating ground and changing lies remain central to the challenge rather than simply serving as scenery.
History: Cardigan Golf Club was founded by local gentry in 1895 as a nine-hole course. After several transformations over the following 125 years, it became the 18-hole layout recorded today and measures 6,455 yards from the back tees. The club's long development reflects the way the original coastal ground was progressively adapted to a full-length course.
Did You Know? Wales Golf named Cardigan Golf Club its Golf Club of the Year for 2023. The award recognised a club whose course combines a high coastal position, views across Cardigan Bay and the varied natural features of the Gwbert landscape.
