Overview: Caracas Country Club is an 18-hole private parkland course in the Chacao district of Caracas, set on the foothills of Ávila. Charles H. Banks designed the golf course in collaboration with the Olmsted Brothers landscape team, whose planning preserved the site's mature trees, open vistas and natural topography. The current published scorecard lists par 71 and 6,611 yards, while architectural sources describe the course as a roughly 6,600-yard layout with stepped greens and irregularly shaped bunkers.
History: The club traces its sporting history to the Caracas Golf Club, founded in 1918. The present golf landscape was developed on former coffee hacienda land in two stages: nine holes were built in 1930 and the remaining nine in 1934. The 1934 date is therefore used for the completed 18-hole course, while the older club history remains part of its identity.
Did You Know? The course is woven into a planned residential landscape rather than isolated behind a conventional resort boundary. Its fairways and greens preserve views toward Ávila, and the site retains historic landscape elements including mature bucares, mijaos, palms and an eighteenth-century bridge over the Chacaíto Creek.
