Overview: Canyon Springs Golf Course is an 18-hole public layout in Twin Falls, set inside the Snake River Canyon. The course sits well below the surrounding city and uses the canyon's walls, river corridor, waterfalls and elevated viewpoints as part of its character. Max Mueller's design is not a flat municipal walk through open ground. It moves between different pockets of terrain, with elevation, changing vegetation and the river landscape giving the round a distinctly local sense of place.
History: Canyon Springs' official history traces the facility to a first nine developed with local businessman Joe McCollum and Idaho entrepreneur J.R. Simplot. The original idea of linking the course with Blue Lakes Country Club across the river was never realized, but a second nine was added in 1987 to create the present 18-hole experience. The McCollum family continues to operate the course, now in its third generation of stewardship.
Did You Know? The course lies roughly 500 feet below Blue Lakes Boulevard. That change in elevation helps create the sheltered canyon setting and gives several holes a different climate and outlook from the roads above. The official course history also points to the Perrine Bridge, canyon walls, waterfalls and Snake River as recurring landscape markers during the round.
