Overview: Canyamel Golf is an 18-hole par-73 course in Capdepera on Mallorca’s north-east coast. The current club site lists 6,198 metres, approximately 6,776 yards, and credits José Gancedo with the design. The layout works through a Mediterranean landscape of open fairways, trees, old stone boundaries and views toward the hills and coast. It is a course with room to choose different lines from the tee, but the changing terrain and well-defended approaches still demand accuracy when the round reaches the scoring holes.
History: Canyamel’s current club material dates the course to 1988, a date also used in Mallorca’s golf directory, while the Spanish federation record carries a 1980 foundation entry. The profile therefore uses 1988 as the club’s stated opening year and keeps the earlier federation date visible in the evidence note. José Gancedo’s routing has remained the central identity of the property, which combines the 18-hole course with a clubhouse, practice areas and a year-round visitor operation in the Capdepera golf area.
Did You Know? Canyamel’s par is 73 rather than the more common 72: the federation scorecard shows a front nine of par 36 and a back nine of par 37. One of the course’s memorable landmarks is a small stone house standing in the middle of the ninth fairway, a reminder that the routing respects the older agricultural character of the land. The current club also places strong emphasis on nature conservation, so the stone walls and natural setting are part of the course’s character rather than scenery added after construction.
