Overview: Canterwood Golf & Country Club is a private 18-hole Robert Muir Graves design in Gig Harbor, with a par of 72 and a published length of 7,175 yards. Tree-lined fairways, undulating greens and five tee sets give the course a substantial Northwest scale without forcing every player onto the same line. The property combines mature vegetation with broad corridors and changing lies, while the surrounding community and older equestrian traces keep the course connected to the site's original character. It is a woodland layout whose interest comes from both the land and the angles into the greens.
History: Canterwood began as a planned private community with an equestrian vision. The club's official history still points to horse trails, repurposed stables and the Stablehouse name as reminders of that beginning. The course was built in 1988, and Robert Muir Graves's design became the central golf feature of the Gig Harbor development. Later reinvestment has updated the clubhouse, practice facilities and other amenities, but the course remains anchored by the Graves routing and by the property’s forested, horse-country identity.
Did You Know? Canterwood's name reflects the community's equestrian origins, and the Stablehouse restaurant preserves that link in its name. Horse trails and repurposed stables remain part of the property's historical vocabulary alongside the 18-hole golf course.
