Overview: The North Course is one half of Canlubang Golf & Country Club's 36-hole complex in Laguna, south of Manila. Robert Trent Jones Jr.'s 18-hole, par-72 layout reaches 6,872 yards from the back tees and runs through the former sugar-estate landscape. Broad, tree-lined fairways are interrupted by man-made lakes, ravines and wind-exposed approaches. The course has the room and length of a championship test, but the multiple tee positions let the round be scaled to the player's game.
History: Canlubang Golf & Country Club was incorporated in 1975 and began full operations in 1978. The official club history dates completion of the North Course to April of that year, before its companion routing was completed the following March. Together they formed what the club describes as Southeast Asia's first 36-hole complex of championship standard. This profile uses the North routing's own completion date instead of treating the club's incorporation date as the course opening.
Did You Know? The North is commonly regarded as the more demanding of Canlubang's two layouts, partly because wind, lakes and ravines can make the safest line less obvious. The club's setting also preserves a direct link to the estate's agricultural past: the golf holes occupy land that was previously associated with sugar and coconut cultivation, so the mature vegetation feels structural rather than decorative.
