Overview: Caledonia Golf & Fish Club is a Lowcountry course in Pawleys Island, where live oaks, marsh, ponds, and the remnants of a rice plantation form the setting. Mike Strantz’s first solo design uses large greens, creative bunkers, and changing vegetation to make the property feel both cultivated and wild.
History: Caledonia opened in January 1994 as Mike Strantz’s first solo design. The property had earlier been a rice plantation and later a hunting and fishing preserve, history that helped shape the course’s emphasis on preserving the land’s live oaks and coastal character.
Did You Know? The avenue of live oaks leading to the clubhouse includes trees that the club describes as about 200 years old.
