Bull's Bridge Golf Course

Overview: Tom Fazio's Bull's Bridge layout in South Kent spans 18 holes among the rugged Berkshire foothills. It is a par-72 layout measuring 7,068 yards. Ancient rock outcroppings, elevation changes and wooded ground give the layout a strong natural identity, while Fazio's routing uses those features to create varied sightlines and demanding approaches. The course does not rely on length alone: the player must read the contours, choose a sensible landing area and accept that the best line may not be the most aggressive one.

History: At the beginning of the twenty-first century, local developers saw an opportunity to build a full 18-hole course in an area that had mostly offered rudimentary nine-hole golf. Tom Fazio was engaged to design and build the layout, with his eldest son Logan serving as project manager. Parts of the course were ready in 2003, but the complete routing opened the following summer, in 2004. The club also developed a modest clubhouse, practice facilities and a caddie program around the course.

Did You Know? Bull's Bridge is a family design project as well as a Fazio course: Logan Fazio managed the construction project while his father shaped the layout. That connection helps explain the club's unusually direct relationship with the Fazio design team.
