Overview: Buffalo Tournament Club is an 18-hole public course in Lancaster, just east of Buffalo and close to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The course stretches from shorter tees to a championship 7,404 yards at par 72, with 55 feet of elevation change across the property. Its design combines irrigated bent-grass fairways, sculpted greens and strategic bunkering with a mixture of farm fields, mature trees and former gravel-quarry ground. That combination gives the course a broad Western New York feel while keeping it practical for golfers based in the Buffalo area.
History: Tim Davis and Marlene Davis designed the course, which opened in 2006. The property had previously been a mixture of cultivated fields, woodlands, abandoned gravel quarries and mature trees, and the designers worked those existing features into the routing. The result is a modern public course that does not depend on a single resort theme. It has instead developed as a local championship facility, with practice areas and a wide range of tee positions supporting both regular play and tournament-style rounds.
Did You Know? The course’s 55 feet of elevation change comes from a relatively compact site. Former gravel-quarry areas create some of the most distinctive ground on the property, while other holes move through farm fields and a more traditional parkland setting.
