Overview: Brollsta’s Stora Banan is a modern woodland and park course north-east of Stockholm, with open fairways on one part of the property and more enclosed woodland on another. Tommy Nordström’s design uses ponds, streams and raised green areas to make the approach game central to the round. The course was built with sand-based fairways, which gives it a distinctive playing identity and helps explain the firm, open feel in suitable conditions. It is a par-72 course that rewards a player who plans around the natural hazards rather than treating every hole as a straight drive and pitch.
History: The Stora course was unveiled in 2001. Brollsta’s published profile describes it as an early Swedish example of fairways built on sand, and the course continues to combine that technical foundation with a landscape of woodland, water and open ground. The 2001 date is used here for the exact Stora Banan routing rather than the earlier development history of the club.
Did You Know? Lake Hundsjön separates the ninth and eighteenth holes near the clubhouse. That water feature gives the returning nines a clear geographic marker and helps the course finish with a strong sense of place.
