Overview: Broadmoor Golf Club is a private Seattle course routed through old-growth timber, rolling fields and the quiet edges of the Broadmoor community. A. Vernon Macan's design uses gently twisting fairways, tall firs and subtle changes in ground to create a woodland parkland course. The setting near Lake Washington adds openness to a layout otherwise defined by trees and turf.
History: The course was developed on roughly 200 acres dedicated in 1924 and opened for play on April 16, 1927. Macan's original routing was later adjusted when the level of Lake Washington changed and additional land became available, including the current 18th-hole area.
Did You Know? Broadmoor hosted Seattle Open events in 1945, 1961 and 1964, bringing players such as Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead to the Seattle course. The club has also supported college golf by allowing University of Washington and Seattle University teams to practice there.
