Bro-Balsta Golfklubb (18 Hålsbanan)

Overview: Bro-Bålsta’s 18-hole course is a heathland-influenced layout west of Stockholm, built around broad fairways, large shaped greens and a landscape that recalls classic British golf without copying it literally. Peter Nordwall’s design gives the tee shot room in places, but the approach is where the course becomes most demanding. Undulating green surrounds and changing lies make it important to choose the correct side of the fairway, while the generous scale of the property keeps the round feeling open and relaxed. The par-73 routing offers several opportunities to score, provided the player respects the contours.

History: The club’s first 12 holes were inaugurated in 1982 and the full 18-hole course was completed in 1985. Bro-Bålsta’s official material identifies Peter Nordwall with the course and describes its British heathland inspiration. The finished layout quickly became one of the club’s defining assets and helped establish the facility as a serious Stockholm-region golf destination.

Did You Know? Bro-Bålsta was named Swedish golf club of the year by the Golfjournalisterna in 1987, only two years after the complete 18-hole course entered play. The award gives the early course a notable place in Swedish club history.
