Brickyard Crossing

Overview: Brickyard Crossing is an 18-hole Pete Dye course on and around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Four holes sit inside the famous oval's infield and fourteen run outside the backstretch, creating a playing experience that is inseparable from the Speedway setting. The course measures about 7,180 yards at par 72 and uses spectator mounds, lakes, trees, and Dye's characteristic movement around the greens to shape the challenge. The layout is both a serious public course and an unusual piece of Indianapolis sporting geography.

History: Golf began at the Speedway in 1929 when the original Speedway Golf Course opened with nine holes outside the track and nine in the infield. Bill Diddel's facility grew to 27 holes in 1965, but Pete Dye later redesigned the course during 1992-1993. The current Brickyard Crossing layout opened in 1993, reducing the facility to 18 holes and placing four of them in the infield. The course has since hosted Champions Tour events from 1994 through 2000 and the LPGA's Indy Women in Tech Championship from 2017 through 2019.

Did You Know? The infield holes are reached through a tunnel beneath the race track. The course therefore has a rare transition in the middle of a round: golfers leave the Speedway's outer ground, pass under the racing surface, and emerge beside the infield.
