Overview: Briarwood Country Club is a private parkland layout in Deerfield, Illinois, with large greens, notable par-3 holes and a current back-tee length of 6,950 yards at par 71. Its architectural identity remains closely tied to Charles Hughes Alison and the English firm of Colt, Alison & Morrison.
History: William Reay and his partners began the project in 1921, and Alison’s course opened in May 1922 on a 160-acre property. The club was renamed Briarwood in 1958, and later updates have aimed to modernize the facility while preserving the original layout’s character.
Did You Know? The early course drew praise from amateur champion Chick Evans, particularly for its par-3 holes and large putting surfaces.
