Overview: Bonnie Doon Golf Club is a private layout situated on the natural sand dunes of Sydney's eastern suburbs. Originally designed by Prosper Ellis, the course underwent a multi-stage restoration by Ogilvy, Clayton, Cocking & Mead (OCM) completed in 2018. The redesign converted the layout into a modern links-style course with rugged, wind-swept bunkers and undulating, fast-running fairways.
History: The club was established in 1897, making it one of the oldest in Sydney, but moved to its current Pagewood site in 1947, opening the course in 1949. The OCM redesign began in 2011, stripping away years of artificial soil and tree planting to expose the natural sandbase and restore the native heathland vegetation.
Did You Know? The club is named after the Scottish lyric "Ye Banks and Braes o' Bonnie Doon" by Robert Burns, reflecting its founders' Scottish heritage and the rolling duneland terrain.
