Overview: Sabal is the second named 18-hole routing at Bonita Bay East in Naples, a private Tom Fazio course set among wetlands, lakes, and mature Florida vegetation. Its 2024 redesign brought more elevation and drainage into the strategy while preserving the property’s natural character.
History: The Sabal course originally opened in 1998. EIGCA reports that Fazio Design and Tom Marzolf then carried out a major redesign, with the renovated course reopening for play on December 2, 2024 after an approximately $17 million project.
Did You Know? The redesign raised much of the playing surface by roughly half a metre and added about 450 catch basins and French drains. The work was also planned around the wetland habitat, where the club’s surroundings support wading birds, deer, turkeys, and alligators.
