Bodenstown Golf Club

Overview: Bodenstown Golf Club is the original 18-hole course in the club’s two-course complex near Sallins in County Kildare. The layout is described as parkland, with mature tree planting, broad fairways and raised, undulating greens. Current course information gives the Old or Bodenstown course a par of 72 and a white-tee length of about 6,404 yards; the club’s scorecard material also lists longer green tees. It sits within the Dublin and Kildare golf corridor, close to the K Club, but it has its own family-run identity and should not be merged with the separate Beech Park history.

History: The course was founded in 1973 under the Mather family, with Eddie Hackett associated with the original design and Richard Mather with later course development. A second 18-hole layout, Ladyhill, was added later, creating the current 36-hole operation. That distinction explains why Bodenstown appears both as a course name and as a club name in directory data. The historical record is about a local family project becoming a two-course parkland facility, not about a resort rebrand.

Did You Know? Bodenstown’s hill is used by both courses: published descriptions point out that the rise carries greens on the Bodenstown course and tees on Ladyhill. It is a small piece of routing information, but it shows how the two layouts share the same terrain while remaining separate 18-hole identities. The Old Course name is retained here to make that distinction explicit.
