Overview: Blue Valley has an 18-hole Gary Player championship course in the Centurion corridor between Johannesburg and Pretoria. It moves through gently hilly parkland with the Rietspruit river, dams and open Highveld vegetation adding strategic edges to the estate setting. From the club tees the course is about 6,250 metres and plays to par 72, with enough movement in the ground to make approach angles and position matter.
History: The course was created as the centrepiece of Blue Valley Golf and Country Estate, a large residential development that took shape around the turn of the millennium. Gary Player’s design gives the course a clear championship identity while the surrounding estate has expanded into a broader community of homes, open savannah-like gardens and water features. Its location has made it a convenient meeting point for golfers travelling between Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Did You Know? The Rietspruit is part of the course’s sense of place rather than a distant landscape feature. It runs through the estate with dams and wet ground nearby, helping attract birdlife and giving several holes a more natural, flowing backdrop than the surrounding urban region suggests.
