Overview: In Okeechobee, Blue Heron operates an 18-hole semi-private course. The par-71 layout plays to about 5,465 yards from the back tees, with a water-influenced front nine and a tighter, more player-friendly back nine.
History: The course opened in 1991 with design credits to M. Collins, E. Brown, and M. McMaster. A new set of nine holes by Don McBrayer was added in 2003 to form the current back nine, and the course has also gone through a period of closure before returning to play.
Did You Know? The two nines were built with different personalities. The front nine makes water a major part of shot selection, while the newer back nine is tighter and more moderate in its hazards and fairway movement.
