Overview: The Lakes Course at Blue Canyon Country Club is the more water-led of the Phuket resort’s two routings. Yoshikazu Kato’s layout is listed at 18 holes, par 72 and 7,129 yards from the black tees, and it occupies a former opencast-mining landscape that has been reshaped into a golf setting of lakes, fairways and planted margins. The land does not read like a conventional flat resort course. Changes in sightline, water position and the contrast between open ground and mature vegetation make the choice of line important well before the approach.

History: The Lakes Course belongs to Blue Canyon’s late-1990s development, with the official course page listing 1998 as its year built and describing its creation in 1999. Because those two dates appear together in the club’s own material, the profile preserves the earlier date as the build-year record rather than pretending the opening history is more precise than the evidence allows. The course remains a distinct routing within the Blue Canyon property, rather than a renamed section of the Canyon Course.

The official Lakes Course description identifies the 17th and 18th as holes where water becomes a defining part of the visual and strategic test. The surrounding site also functions as habitat for local wildlife, so the course’s name is not just a branding cue.
